A belt conveyor is a continuous-action conveying device with a belt as its working element and is the most common type of conveyor. It can be used to move bulk, lump, or piece goods. The goods move along the belt horizontally or at an angle of up to 35° to the horizontal.

Due to their simple design, low specific energy consumption, high productivity, and reliability, belt conveyors are currently the primary mode of transport for a wide variety of materials.
